LES VACANCES DE HEGEL
Description
The “Hegel’s holidays” tea towel is an adaptation of the eponymous painting by artist René Magritte. Surrealist painter, René Magritte likes to imagine serious games, puzzles and contradictions.
“How to paint a glass of water in a way that is neither indifferent nor fanciful, but as it were, with genius? I then thought that Hegel (another genius) would have been very sensitive to this object which has two opposite functions at the same time: to reject water (to protect against it) and to keep it (to contain it). He would have been delighted, I think, or amused (as one seeks to be on vacation) and I called the painting Hegel’s Vacation.”
René Magritte
The “Hegel’s Vacation” tea towel is part of the “Toiles de Maîtres” collection.
